Machinery and Heritage Display

This display is easy to find, on the highway extending the length of the town and is permanently opened for viewing at no charge. The museum consists of a station dwelling housing memorabilia and artifacts, the original police cell blocks, an early settlers cottage, meat house, a machinery shed and an extensive display of early machinery (tractors, graders, trucks, pumps, etc.) Souvenirs and craft can be purchased from Oakhampton Cottage, the settlers cottage.

Highlighting the display are numerous naturally formed solid round rocks. These are concretions formed by the accumulation of lime cement in the sediment. No one has explained why they are round. There is a petrified palm thought to be up to 100 million years old, and various fossils found in the local area.

The police cell was built 1901 and used until 1974. It is of sturdy construction with steel sheeting between two layers of wood.
