Langenbaker House

This teamsters Cottage was one of the first residence moved into Ilfracombe in 1892.  Harry Langenbaker and his wife, Mary-Anne had eleven children and the home stayed in the family for a century.  In 1991 when the last and the youngest child, Bernie died, the house was purchased by the Ilfracombe Shire Council because of its special place in the history of the area.

The house is made of timber and corrugated iron and the verandah is latticed with hoop iron which was used in the old days to tie wool packs.  It's construction is almost in original form although some restoration work has been carried out to make the house safe.

The furniture is mostly original except for some changes in the kitchen which suffered damage during a cyclone in 1939.
