Historic Wellshot Hotel
The historic Wellshot Hotel is one of the most unique outback pubs, over one hundred years old and well worth looking through, with its woolpress bar, remarkable collection of hats and wealth of local memorabilia.
The Wellshot Hotel found a permanent site in Ilfracombe in 1890 after Paddy Finn followed the railway line to its end. The accommodation wing at the rear of the building was rebuilt in 1891 and again in 1956, but the name and street frontage remain the same as they were over a century ago.
Inside, the unique lounge bar is made from an old-time timber woolpress. The wall is lined with old jute wool packs bearing some of the earliest property stencils in the area. Early photographs and many other fascinating artifacts are on display and "The Wellshot and the Bush Pub's Hall of Fame" poem is inscribed on another wall
